Weston & Mendip Advanced Motorists Group
Merger/incorporation with Bristol Advanced Motorists' Group
Members of Weston & Mendip Advanced Motorists and Bristol Advanced Motorists recently gave their approval via a members' ballot for their respective committees to pursue a merger (incorporation). This is for the benefit and continuation of advanced motoring in the Weston, Bristol and North Somerset areas by combining our joint charitable resources within one group. Please be aware that new Associates joining Weston and Mendip will shortly become members of the newly-merged group.
Weston & Mendip Advanced Motorists were formed in 1983 to improve the standard of driving in North Somerset and the surrounding areas. We have over 30 years of success in providing driving advice to new members, improving their concentration, observation, anticipation and planning, giving them the most important factor when driving - more time to react to hazards.
"The IAM has made me into a more relaxed, safe driver & I'm much more aware of other drivers & hazards. I am so glad I joined Weston & Mendip Advanced Motorists, I have gained so much to improve my driving standards which at my age has stood me in good stead to be able to keep-up & maintain my ability to cope with our roads today."
"I have become a better driver, more tolerant of other drivers’ mistakes, anticipating their actions earlier and avoiding awkward situations rather than dealing with them which has enriched my driving experience and brought the pleasure back into driving as well as providing me with the challenge of always trying to be better yet."
"I now enjoy my driving. I look forward to going places and no longer find it a chore to have to drive. I make good progress, legally, and find overtaking opportunities that in the past I would never have seen. I arrive at my destination more relaxed, and also having used less fuel. I get great satisfaction from having passengers that enjoy the journey too."
"I wanted to learn more about driving, and move beyond the basics of Mirror-Signal-Manoeuvre, so that I could get the most out of every drive. I never saw a car trip as simply about getting from A to B, and now usually prefer the journey to the purpose."
