Code of Conduct & Equality & Diversity Statement

Code of Conduct:

WMAM will at all times be guided by the requirements of IAM RoadSmart’s Code of Conduct as outlined in the Group Affiliated Handbook.

Equality & Diversity Statement:

Aim: WMAM welcomes all drivers who enrol on the IAM RoadSmart Advanced Driver Course (ADC) and who meet the requirements of the IAM RoadSmart ADC Documents Declaration Form. Full members of IAM RoadSmart moving into the area or joining from other groups are also welcome. We encourage all members, associates and friends of the group to treat each other with care, courtesy, and consideration. In particular, we will treat every driver equally, regardless of their age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage or civil partnership, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation.

Accessibility: The Committee will make every effort to ensure all our indoor / outdoor meetings and events are held in venues that are accessible to all, but accepts that on occasion this may be outside its control (e.g. if a pre-booked venue is unavailable at short notice). Venues used for indoor meetings and events will adhere to current advice regarding Coronavirus precautions issued by the Government or the hosting venue.

Diversity: WMAM is an independent road safety charity affiliated to IAM RoadSmart. We aim to organise a range of events and activities to meet the needs of all members and non-members (friends and guests). WMAM values diversity and will treat everyone who participates in the activities of the group equally and fairly.

Inclusion and respect: Every person will be made to feel equally welcome and included in all group meetings and events open to them to attend. Sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic or otherwise offensive and inflammatory remarks and behaviour are not acceptable. These constitute harassment, are in contravention of the IAM RoadSmart Group Affiliated Handbook Code of Conduct, and as such have no place in WMAM.

Dealing with discrimination and harassment: If any member feels they have been discriminated against, or subject to any form of harassment on the part of the group, or by any member of the group, they should first raise their complaint with the nominated committee representative (Group Secretary) in accordance with IAM RoadSmart Group Affiliated Handbook Code of Conduct. If they are unable or unwilling to raise their complaint with the Group Secretary, they should direct it to the Group Chair. The Group will always support any member who feels they have been the victim of discrimination or harassment, and will not victimise or treat them less well because they have raised a concern.

Group Chairman on behalf of the WMAM Committee.
